This year I grew the vine in an old iron kettle/pot with a trellis in front of the garage. In years past I have grown them in hanging baskets and trained the vines to grow downward, yes that is possible. It makes for a beautiful addition in a hanging basket. It is now August and the vine is getting pretty leggy. It also has a morning glory growing in it accidentally. I have to keep the vine from growing into the garage. It has been quite a showstopper but I don't think I would plant it again in this pot nor in this spot again. I really liked it better in a hanging basket and may try that again next year.

Love this plant. I grew it around my lamp post one year but now I have clematis there. Looking at yours I'm thinking I need to grow it again. Have you seen the multi-colored one. Looks pretty online but I've never seen it in the nursery. Park Seed has them Blushing Susie and Sunrise Surprise.

I purchased this in a nursery, but honestly I think I want to use seed next year as it is getting a little out of hand. :-)

I used to grow this vine when I lived in the San Joaquin Valley. I have not tried it here in the mountains but I have been seeing it a lot online. I need to try and grow it next summer. It is a lovely thing.

I think it will grow anywhere, anyways it has really done well here. It gets a morning sun and afternoon shade.

May I ask how fast a small plant grows year one?

It is an annual here in southwest Missouri, but it can reach 6 ft. in a season. Thank you for the question.
